Course info
This course focuses on the development of personal project work, building on your interests and skills. You will be encouraged to take an informed, creative approach to photography, situating your project work in contemporary practice. You will gain a sound understanding and knowledge of research methods to support sustained critical enquiry and practice, and of current debates in the field. We have strengths in supporting work in the following areas: contemporary and critically informed art photography, practical and theoretical engagement with photographic archives, investigations into the body in representation, critical engagements with the histories of photography, the relation of photography to social memory, and landscape narrative and photography. Practice-based projects may involve chemical, analogue and digital approaches, whether in the studio, the screen or on location. You will also work alongside postgraduate students in other disciplines and benefit from the range of interests present within our creative arts community.

Entry Requirements
Normally minimum age 21 by 31 December of year of entry; First or Upper Second Class Honours degree in a subject area which is relevant to the study proposed or; Other relevant and equivalent international qualifications; Consideration will be given to applicants who present a degree with a lower classification but can make a strong case for admission in relation to a particular project. If your first language is not English, a certificate is required as evidence that you have the necessary level of English to succeed on your chosen course. For postgraduate study, IELTS score of 6.5 (TOEFL 600 (CBT 250) or equivalent) with a minimum achievement of 6.0 for all components is required.
